Encapsulation as a solution to protect liquid substances, usable in dry material systems
or to make it more tradable.

The encapsulation offers the enclosed liquid droplets efficient protection against oxidation, for example, and prevents direct contact with other components of a formulation where incompatibility would interfere (e.g. in the case of bleaching, reducing and oxidizing agents). It allows the controlled release of specific liquid or solid active ingredients (e.g. silicone defoamers, aromas and fragrances) when dissolving a complex formulation via different mechanisms.

The encapsulation of liquids or powders is economically feasible by spraying granules into emulsions. The starting materials to be encapsulated (e.g. oils) are emulsified in a liquid (in the simplest case as an oil-in-water system).
The emulsion is sprayed into the process room. Spray drops hit the fluidized particles and wet their surface, creating a liquid film. In the case of water-based emulsions, the liquid film dries through the heated fluidizing gas. As a result of the evaporation, the gas temperature drops immediately and the particles in the process space are built up at relatively low temperatures. This effect allows the processing of sensitive products, such as aromatic oils. The drying process turns the liquid film into a solid layer and the particles grow in the shape of a shell.

The result is powder and granules with flexibly adjustable particle sizes, either by drying the external aqueous phase with the dissolved matrix material in the case of an aqueous emulsion / suspension or by solidifying a melt emulsion / suspension.


The result is a free-flowing granulate with up to 50% liquid loading. The liquids in the particles are protected against external influences or internal incompatibilities. The encapsulation gives you a significantly improved storage stability. Talk to us about it!
